Xanthelasma (pronounced zan-the-laz-ma) are fatty lumps that tend to form near the inner corners of the upper and lower eyelids. In many cases they are due to high cholesterol levels in the blood in which case diet or cholesterol lowering drugs may be advised. They can also occur in patients with normal cholesterol levels.
The fat deposits are completely harmless, but can be unsightly.
Mr Ijaz Sheikh can remove these surgically under local anaesthetic.
If you would like to consider surgery for Xanthelasma, please contact his secretary and make an appointment to see him at his eye care clinic.
